My fox face seems to have a dark spot on the back toward its tail and I can't tell if it's a bruise or what it is I don't believe it's a one spot foceface he did how ever jump out of the tank on Sunday and I got it in time so I was thinking maybe it was a bruise from that?? Oh and the mark is on both sides not just the one side

Looks like it might be lymphocytosis....did you quarantine him before you added him? I'll let humble or Mel chime in first, but you will have to treat all of the fish.

Update : Never mind....thought I was something white under the mouth...just photo artifact.

I highly doubt it's lymphocytosis there's no growths or anything it's below the skin and I feel I was able to get a better picture

That has a real potential to be a bacterial infection - I've seen something very similar with a yellow longnose butterfly quite recently.

Can you get hold of some Furan-2/Kanaplex/Metroplex, or Nitrofuracin Green powder? They'd have to be dosed in a QT . . .

~Bruce

i could get a hold of the meds but the qt i dont have one set up and atm dont have the possibility to set one up if i recall isnt there something that can bind the meds to the food in order to treat the infection?

Seachem's "Focus" is the binder you seek - and with the spot showing on both sides, I'd guess that the infection (if such it is) is internal.

I know that Focus works well with Metroplex - less certain about Kanaplex and Furan-2.

~Bruce

will the metro alone be able to possibly kick the infection?

Given that the butterfly in question was getting General Cure (Metro & Praziquantel) orally at the time of its passing, you may need something with a bit more.

Let's see if @Humblefish or @melypr1985 can add some of their experience and expertise to this one . . .

~Bruce (Who'd forgotten that you'd already paged them both . . . )

Lol thank you Bruce now we wait for them to chime in :)

You can bind kanaplex with focus and feed it for internal infection.

Also,If you can catch him, an acriflavine bath in a 5 gallon bucket could help.

so kanaplex and metroplex will blind to the focus so thats 2 of the 3 thatll be able to help it out so thats good so far and i dont think that ill be able to catch it. @ngoodermuth

Also, nutrition will play a big part in him fighting it off sans QT. I'd soak his food in vitachem or selcon as well and make sure he's getting frequent small feedings.

i feed mysis cubes/rods original and pacific plankton ill just add vitachem to it when it's feeding time oh also i feed pellets i feed about three/four times a day

That's probably a bruise or possibly internal bleeding from the jump. I would give him a MB bath: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/methylene-blue.257467/

If it starts looking worse I would assume internal infection and food soak antibiotics as recommended by @ngoodermuth. In fact, it wouldn't be a bad idea to go ahead and start doing that now.

I agree 100% I think I would go ahead and start soaking the meds in his food. They work slowly so getting a jump on that might be best.

Mk while I got yu here @Humblefish I am battling ich well och management and I just was reading your thread about the bacterial infection predicament and my only real option ATM is hypo which you recommend second On the post now if I run hypo can yu run me thru how long and at what salinity?

I do understand that it can possibly not fully erraticate the ich if it's of a certain strain

So if I don't get my inverts out they'll die correct?
