Fox face issue

I woke up this am to a very very pale fox face.
im trying to figure out what’s stressing him out……all other fish are fine.

150 gallon
foxface is bigger than all fish other than the purple tang

other fish are

1 purple tang
1 yellow tang
1 hipo tang
7 chromies
2 tilefish
1 cardinal
2 cleaner shrimp
2 clowns

hes slowly getting his color back
the only thing in the tank that changed from yesterday was I added an algae clip and algae

Foxfaces change color at night sometimes camo and sometimes pale. Also could be stress I would just watch it don’t over react

To me it sounds like he’s just waking up. Mine will try to stay asleep for as long as he possibly can before the other guys begin to act like the annoying younger siblings

foxface speared the purple tang, he died. I think they were fighting over a cave.

A foxface will only do that in defence, the PT would’ve either cornered it or terrorised it to the point of stress and the foxface had it’s spines up already.

Personally, I’d take the foxface over the tang any day due to foxfaces having more personality and colour than they do.

I think the foxface will make it he probably just needs time to calm and relax which now the bully is gone, he should calm down a bit faster.

I agree……his color is coming back already…..
his eyes are still a little glazed over.

Yeah foxface's are an odd bunch, but also sneaky deadly. I was going to say that the purple tang might have had something to do with it. My one spot used to spike the flagfin angel, who was a royal B itch, never ended in death but inflamed spike marks a few times over the years. I think he would also spike the orange shoulder tang, but I think this was just the orange shoulder thinking he owned the whole tank and over ran his territory. Luckily they are shy enough to get out of the way when doing maintenance, not like my lions who will literally brush against my arm when I'm in the tank. They are so sneaky I think this happens more than people are aware.

My foxface will do the same thing, if the Binotatus goes at him then he throws his spines up. The tang has only ever ignored it once but I’m pretty sure the tang realised he wasn’t a threat after a while.

Update: ff was dead this am…..
must of been over stressed……..
I’m going to leave the tank as is for a few weeks and let everybody settle down.

all of this happened after light out at night, everybody got along during the day (lights on)…weird

Some fish behave differently when you don’t look and unfortunately sometimes it can lead to cases like this.
