Hi folks, recently acquired a Fox Flame frag; wondering what par you keep yours under?

I noticed mine looses the yellow tips under high lighting. I keep mine about mid tank under hydra 52 at 65% blue 10% wt

I have heard 250-350 is ideal. I think that is where mine is currently. I should get out the PAR meter and verify. I have only had my frag for a month or so but it is encrusting and seems happy.

I dont have a par meter so I kinda have to go by feel and look. I had mine up higher and it lost the tips. Lowered it about 6 inches and they came back.

Have one at about 450. Has the tips and is encrusted. Slow grower for me. Had to circumcise it and it may start to finally grow out. I run a lot of flow so mine tend to base out first.

I have mine under 500-550 in both my DT and growout. I get great growth and color. Here's a crappy cell phone pic...

Thanks folks, sounds like it can take more par than I thought; I'll just have to acclimate it. I have an open spot on my rocks that gets ~400.

450+ just about 4-5 inches under the water under a 14k Phoenix. Grows well and looks good.

Hey jda, are those palys you have the ubiquitous ones that come on rocks that no one wants, and if so, do they smother your acros or they stay at bay? I have some that look exactly like that and they're proliferating after I thought I removed them all.

Looking awesome and that's some serious par! Looks like I need to increase my intensity!

Off topic, so I will not say more here, but most color issues are a result of quality, not quantity - all PAR is not the same.

I kalk back the palys every so often... then they regrow over the next year.

I do not think that Fox Flame NEEDs that much PAR since I have seen it do well under less, but it certainly does not mind it either. I would get it at least 300, though.

Mine before I remodeled my tank got 150 par during the 12 hour blue light and 225-245 for 6 hours during daylight it was 4” off the bottom of the tank later on it was shaded by other corals, but always managed keep it’s yellow tips/reddish tone. It currently resides on the bottom of my tank getting roughly the same par, but this time nothing’s shading it. I’m going trim the tips on the old growth to see it I can yellow tips back. I’ve had better luck wither fox flame in medium to low light.
