Finally picked up a frag of the fox flame after being in the hobby over ten years. Last time I seen one in person was about 10 years ago in some guys basement buying my first SPS frags ever. At the time it was WAY outside my price range. Sitting on my frag rack next to a JF jolt, JF blow torch, brads jawdropper, TGC cherry bomb. It really makes them look boring by comparison. Maybe when they all mature It will change. But, If you haven’t bought one because it’s NOT what’s hot. I highly recommend it for your collection. The Fox Flame looks great under whites and blues.

WHERE IS THE PICTURE?!
Lol it’s just a little guy and a phone pic. Added a shot down my frag rack, it stands out.

Nice color! I had a little twig once that never really took off and eventually faded away.

Mines only in the tank a week, from day 1 I have some growth already and the color has stayed strong. Not uncommon for me though. The first week or two things look great and then they go dormant. Kinda like they are running off what reserves they had from the previous tank, then go dormant for a couple weeks to months before they start to grow again.

I got mine for free after I traded with someone locally. It was just a little nub too like your's.
I didnt even known it was a fox flame because it didnt have the yellow tips.
It basically based out for a good 2 - 3 months all of the 2 inch frag square before shooting branches.
In my metal halide 10k, it looks like a brown coral with greenish tips, but in blue light the colors shows up.
Its been a year since i placed this coral and never moved it. One of my fastest growing acro so far.

Heres my recent video about it in 10k metal halide. Had some kind of eunicid worm that caused some tissue necrosis/irritation at some spots but looks like its healing.
I skipped the video to the fox flame for you guys :)

Fox flame is one of the few recent vintage designer strains that has OG potential.

Looks good in any light, no photo tricks necessary

Different enough from other corals that it never looks like "just another minion". Nobody ever has to jump into a thread to say "it's a totally different coral" to justify name/price vs other similar corals.

Most importantly, it grows and colors up. To be honest, there are a lot of very similar speciosa that are still years away from being acclimated to normal tank life and even more tenuis that only color up if you cook them like a vendor.

Fox flame is a stand out coral that a decently experienced SPS keeper can avoid disappointment with. That, more than name/price/trend is what pushes an acro toward Oregon Tort status IMO.
