Can anyone give me a clue what gender these two might be...? Had the foxface, eh +/- 2 years? Got the tang a few months ago. They have been inseparable since the tang arrived, and behaving like a bonded pair.

they certainly act like it. No my thought was that they are likely inseparable bc they were opposite genders vs 2 males or 2 females?

Foxfaces are not able to be gender identified but if you told me the name of the tang I could get some answers
"Bob"
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Its a doctorfish tang, i haven't been able to find much info online?

I believe you can sex some species of tang by looking for those bristles near the scalpel on the tail. Very rough/bristly and it’s a boy :)

it’s a one spot fox face, idk about the tang but I have heard lots of stories about tangs buddying up with other fish and having a ‘best friend’. On a smaller scale, my cherub angel and one of my clowns are best friends to the point where the clowns ‘divorced’ so the male could hang out with my angel. It’s worth it to note that my angel is also male

I really wish it would stay still long enough for me to even SEE any bristles. I had to take those pics from 5 feet away, any closer and s/he expects food.
Sidenote, this tang eats EVERYTHING. Non stop 24/7. I have seen it steal food right out of the mouths of other fish, corals and hermits. I'm having to overfeed my tank just so the other inhabitants don't starve. Not sure what to do.

@footgal i do not see any bristles at all..? It looks perfectly smooth. Am i just blind in my old age LOL
