I added a new foxface to my system a little over 2 weeks ago. It’s been active and not too terribly shy. However yesterday I found it just hanging out/hiding in the corner of the tank.

It doesn’t appear to be stressed, it stays it’s normal colors unless I peak my head around the tank to see him. After lights were out last night, I found him in his normal sleeping place. He was active this morning while the lights were ramping up. He ate as well. Now he’s back in the hiding spot.

it doesn’t appear that he’s getting picked on, however I did notice couple of nip marks on his fins. Would that cause him to hide? Any input and help would be appreciated.

65 Gallon.

Sailfin
Blue Hippo
2- clownfish
2- Pink Anthias

I am suspect of one of the clownfish nipping. ButI can’t be sure yet. the female clownfish is a real ******. Attacks my fingers any time I’m doing anything in the Tank.

How aggressive are your tangs being only in a 65? As well as what kind of clowns do you have and size?

The 2 tangs occasionally bump heads. But not too bad. I’ve actually been contemplating getting rid of 1 of them. My clowns are the black ice clowns. The female is roughly 1-2 inches, male is smaller obviously. The sailfin is the biggest one I have. Roughly 2-3 inches The blue hippo is slightly smaller. Not much though.
Does that help?

Is he the only one showing these signs?

I would observe and make sure he doesn't get any worse. Watch for aggression and accumulation of and imperfections on him such as white spots, torn fins, chasing, stops eating. What is he being fed now?

+1 on this
if he's just hiding and no signs of aggression well...... they sometimes do that

I feed a mixture of seaweed, frozen, and pellets. I’ll keep watching him. I actually just shut the lights off and he came out, the sailfin started messing with him and he went back to the corner. I’ll keep watching over the next few days.
