So my foxface has been brown above his spine for the past couple months the first month I had him he was yellow. It changed. He is new about 3 or so months in the tank so far. I am also wondering if his behavior is strange at night he goes camp or when he is startled through out the day bewildered swim around and graze and eat seaweed and he will also rest in his spot. He does fight with my snowflake eel at times so that could also be a issue. The tank is 100 gallons all Params in check tank ages include a snowflake eel 3 chromis pair of cardinals and clowns. Any help on this is much aprrectited thanks.

Is he plump?

If so, they take some time to become comfortable and happy with their new home. My Foxface Lo took many months before showing his bright yellow colours. For a long time, he was quite dull.

Test your water, if the parameters are all good and the fish is eating well, then it probably will be fine...

Yeah he is fat and eating guess I will just let him settle in more thanks. And all the water parameters are good so I guess he just needs more time thanks.

Yeah the ting is he is almost always dark above back worries me a little but I guess it is just adjusting thanks for the help here is a quick pic of what it looks like

The shade if the darkness will also change I notice sometimes he will turn back to normal but only for a few minutes

+1, very skittish fish. Mine basically does the same. Generally around feeding time mine will hang out in a specific spot and will almost have no yellow in its color at all, but shortly there after the fish is bright yellow and fat and happy.

Yeah he too has his spot and when I put nori in he will change to his bright yellow color it is really the only time he does this rest of time is like pic. Thank

Looks normal to me. They can make some cool patterns and change so fast. He is settling. As stated, they are skittish fish and will take time. Just make sure he is eating and no one is bothering him. I had one for many years (died after 8 years of with me) and he always had me guessing when he went to bed. Blended really well. Cool fish.

My new rabbitfish is similar, but actually a bit more colorful.

My One Spot changes color all the time and quick. He can be traditional colors, than all black, all mottled and anywhere in between. As long as he is eating and not being harrassed, I think you should be good! Good luck!

Well the eel and and him have been fighting and it would seem he is the aggressor but besides that no other issues could that be the reason for the coloration or is it settle in?
