So my foxface almost died this morning. He is super skinny. And when i posted on a fb group i was informed his diet is why he straved. So for the 9 months i had him hes been a piggy. I feed him frozen brine, frozen mytsis, nori, chaeto. Apparently its not diverse enough for him and i wanna be the best mom for him. Ive never used pellets or flakes in this hobby. I need suggestions on where to start. My yellow eye tang is fat and healthy on that diet. Along with great amount of hair algae in my tank. Please give me suggestions on a diet well balanced for him.

That diet is just fine, fb groups are you know what's, Dont listen to em...

How often and how much do you feed? Pellets would hurt either.

How do you know it almost died this am? and if it was soo close what did you do to stop it from dieing?

Strange. I feed mine usually once or twice a day and mainly just brine and mysis. Some days pellets some days rods and it's a fatty.

How long have you had it? did you QT?
if its eating well, yet still skinny, it may have internal parasites.
Ive had him 9 months. He was fat and healthy. I went in vacation and came home to him not eating. I qt him. And when he went down this mor ing i immediately put him in qt. But hes been in my display for 8 months.

Interesting, but does sound like some sort of internal parasites. Have an urchin by chance or anything that could stick it?

No urchin. Just him. 2 brackish puffers 1 green spot 1 topaz. Coral beauty. Yellow eye tang. 1 leopard wrasse. And 2 blue damsels 75gallon display 20gal sump.

OP, if he is getting stuck in the power head, might be time to let it go, do you have any clove oil in your house by any chance?

Hes swimming now. Hes getting better as long as he survives tonight. He went from barely even breathing to swimming. I told him im not giving up hes my favorite fish

Unfortunately gonna be almost impossible without any actual signs of injury or parasitic evidence without an fish autopsy. whatever that is called.
