Good afternoon all, has anyone ever experienced a foxface LO nipping at corals, mine has just started too take a liking to my toadstool, I was wondering why my toad had been sulking for a few days and now I know why. Would hate to have to get rid of him so any suggestions you guys have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all.

Get rid of it immediately and yes, one wiped out many of my corals.

They will nip if hungry. I cannot be one hundred percent, but my copperbanded and possibly my foxface (although never saw him) went after lps. He never bothered my leathers or gorgs though. Feed him more, or you may have to find a new home for him.

I was wondering why for the last few days my toadstool was sulking and then boom saw him nipping at it, he hasn't touched anything else as far as I know.

What’s your feeding schedule like? I would make sure he has access to nori at least 3-4 hours a day and your fish get 1-2 feedings a day minimum.

Mine leaves my Corals alone... however they are one of those “reef safe with caution” fish, and once they have a taste for coral, I believe they will continue to be an issue.

Feed twice a day and nori goes in the tank between the feed times, I think I just need too get him out and into another tank to be safe, Good opportunity too get a fish only tank now, only problem got to convince the wife it's a good idea [emoji6]

Mine did that when he was new. He got over it. 2 years later no problems.

What a bugger eh, he hasn't touched anything else yet just the toadstool, since I put in the trap he is atleast staying away from the toad and it's opening up again, the only downside is he isn't even trying to go near the trap and I got nori, lps sticks in there which he loves, hopefully he will take more interest towards the weekend as I would hate too disturb the tank to try and get him [emoji53]

As others have said, they can be hit or miss as far as “reef safe”. I purchased one for a 180 gallon, established tank. It went after several softies, killing a few. Mine seemed partial to acans and hammers. What was worse is that my hippo tang decided to join in, despite never having an issue with him prior to the fox face, or after getting ride of the foxface. When I sold the little terror back to the LFS, all they could say was how fat it was. Yeah, fat on a few hundred dollars worth of coral.
