I think the problem is you don't have enough Sand.

Oh no! What kind? Ive had the one spot and my current guy is a magnificent!Update. The new Foxface started picking at my trachyphyllia. 3 of them are looking really bad. It just turned bad seemingly overnight.
Never again. This was my final straw.![]()
My one spot is several years old and so far no problems. I do wonder if certain species are more likely to pick at corals?Oh no! What kind? Ive had the one spot and my current guy is a magnificent!
Do you have trachyphyllia? Foxface mainly eat those corals IME. Any foxface I’ve added (I’ve probably tried 4 by now) will eventually eat them.My one spot is several years old and so far no problems. I do wonder if certain species are more likely to pick at corals?

Sux, so you're 0 for 2 on the foxy. Sounds like me and the Klein with zoa's and aiptasia. I just decided to keep the Klein and hope it won't eat zoa's this time around, as the aiptasia smothered some zoa gardens to death anyway.Do you have trachyphyllia? They even seem to leave acanthophyllia alone (at least for now).
I tried to catch it with a net, but I was unsuccessful. I have the trap in place, but I’m very antsy to get the fish out. Why didn’t I just listen to my past experience??? I never seem to learn.
The foxface is amazing at removing bubble algae, that’s for sure. Maybe I should leave the foxface and just stop keeping trachyphyllia corals.
But who knows, maybe the foxface will eventually eat my acanthophyllia. I have decided to remove the foxface.
No I dont keep any of those, I keep Goni, Torch, zoa, mushrooms, bubble, gsp, leathers and some other softies with my foxface. I also keep a constant supply of nori in my tank so my tangs dont get cranky at eachother and he seems to love to devour that and leave my corals alone. I don’t have any trachyphyllia in my tank. Even the easier lps corals haven’t always done well in my tank so I’ve always been afraid to buy any of the more expensive kinds.Do you have trachyphyllia? Sorry to hear your foxface didn’t work out for you . Personally I’ve had them off and on for years and never had any issue with them .I trapped the foxface, and put it in my 20 gallon SPS QT.
I ordered pitho and emerald crabs from Reef Cleaners to replace the foxface.
Do you keep trachyphyllia corals? They only seem to eat those IME. I’ve tried about 4 already with the same outcome.Sorry to hear your foxface didn’t work out for you . Personally I’ve had them off and on for years and never had any issue with them .

If I never kept trachyphyllia, they wouldn’t be an issue for me either.
Be careful with emeralds - once they run out of food they’re known to go towards coral for their Zooxanthellae. Hammers, Trachys, and sometimes Acans seem to be the main ones to get hit.I trapped the foxface, and put it in my 20 gallon SPS QT.

Thanks. I emailed Reef Cleaners to remove the emerald crabs from my order, and replace it with more pitho crabs.Be careful with emeralds - once they run out of food they’re known to go towards coral for their Zooxanthellae. Hammers, Trachys, and sometimes Acans seem to be the main ones to get hit.
How did you order Pitho Crabs from Reef Cleaners since they have been not available for weeks? Web page says they are still out of stock. If on a wait list how long until they say they will be available?I trapped the foxface, and put it in my 20 gallon SPS QT.

They were available 2 days ago when I ordered them. I selected 10, but they only added 7 to my cart. My tank is 260 gallons by the way.How did you order Pitho Crabs from Reef Cleaners since they have been not available for weeks? Web page says they are still out of stock.
