So I’m just wondering if foxfaces can be kept in mated pairs in big enough tanks and if so how hard is it to find a pair, specifically a pair of magnificent foxfaces? Thanks in advance.

Good question :)

I believe they can be kept in a mated pair... although I have no idea how easy it is to track down a pair

A 'mated pair' would be quite the accomplishment. They haven't been bred, and I think they are pelagic spawners like tangs.

Maybe "bonded pair" is a better term? Either way, foxface do often pair off in the wild

Anyone know how to sex a fox face (I know, carefully), I have thought of trying to add another to my tank?! ;)

I think your best bet would be to introduce them at the same time, I do not believe adding another one will be successful as they are incredibly aggressive to others of the same genus.

Here is the “pair” I had. They were QTed and introduced at the same time. Tried to add a third and it was WW3! They spent a lot of time swimming next to each other with the occasional flairing.
