Introduced my foxface into my tank and he is just behind the rocks. Changed color too. I have the lights off. Should I keep them off? Came out briefly, looked bright yellow but when I passed by, hid behind rock again and changed color

I'd leave the lights off for a little just to reduce stress. My massive fox face that I've had for years now still does this when he's stressed or sleeping.

I'd keep the lights low for as long as you can. FoxFace, as with most fish, show their mood through their coloration. That said, my FoxFace Lo changes colors within minutes. I thought it would never really start showing the bright yellow that their known for, one of the main reasons I got it. They're very cool maintenance fish. Watch out for the spines, very nasty sting:eek:

I got mine to full stocked aquarium and my Yellow tang was relentless against him. Fox face hid and turned color for couple of days but then started coming out more & defending himself. Within a week he's full yellow swimming fully in tank. Still little skittish when he sees me, but I'm sure he'll soon appreciate the hand that feeds him... Or her

He'll always be skittish towards you except when there's food around... My Flame Tang was relentless with mine as well until he got popped a few times with the FF's spines. Swam around acting drunk for a few minutes. Now the Tang doesn't even look at him, lol!

I have a coral rabbitfish (Siganus corallinus), so a different species. He hid and maintained his "stressed out" coloration for almost a week after I added him to my tank, a 75 gal with 2 clowns, an exquisite wrasse and a blenny. Now he is out in the water column more often and even bullying my other fish a bit, but still hides and camouflages if a person approaches the tank too quickly. As long as your rabbitfish is eating I would be patient for a bit before I worry. Of course, if your fish isn't eating or is being bullied by others, it's a different situation.

I just added a one spot foxface and after an hour he is out and about with pretty good color. I wouldn't say he is relaxed though as he is swimming the glass.
