Foxface Rabbitfish Interest

My Fox face follows my Yellow Tang everywhere. They are like best buddies searching for algae.

The yellow tang + foxface pairing is a very common thing. It was really odd for me, because for about three days my tang showed aggression that it's never shown before, beating the foxface pretty constantly with its tail. All of the forums said to give them a few days and they would sort things out.

Then bam, next day they were best buddies, rarely separated other than at night. Foxfaces sleep with a mottled pattern that changes their appearance completely. If yellow tangs sleep, I've never seen it.

I like the pairing. I'd never get one with out the other. Mine paired up the first minute in the tank.

I added a One Spot to my 90 gallon about a month ago, it has learned to love seaweed, pecks at algae around the tank and loves LRS Reef Frenzy. It does go camo at night and can be found in the strangest of places. Sometimes I find it just standing on it's tail on the sand bed in the front corner of my tank. It can be a spaz (as mentioned by others), I basically got this to replace an aggressive Yellow Tang and thus far it seems to be working. It just swims around with my other fish and they pretty much leave it alone. Here is a vid of it with my other fish:

I had one for a while. It was a really interesting fish, and did eat anything. Problem I had is it started eating Acans and it was such an agressive feeder it startled my more timid community fish. I rehomed it. He and my Kole Eye Tang got along well, a bit of posturing at first.

Was that in this 250 gallon tank you've got in your signature or a different size tank?

Do you know by any chance if you can keep a foxface with fish like blue tangs and yellow tangs because idk if you can seen as YT and FF are pretty similar looking?
I have my baby foxfacw with my hippo just fine, my dad has his foxface with his purple tang and they get along very good! Well the purple tang learned not to mess with the foxface he got stabbed by one of its spines! He backed off and never challenged him. ( the purple tang is just fine and eats like a pig)

It’s so cute!

I have a magnificent foxface in my QT right now. He is a really interesting fish. When he is colored up he is really something to see. He is still adjusting so he often goes into camo mode when I'm working around the tank. He's in with 3 damsels and they chase each other around but he pays no attention to them. He loves seaweed on the clip and also eats Reef Frenzy readily. I'm anxious to get him into my DT so he can help with my hair algae outbreak!

My foxface has been a great member of the tank. This is my first saltwater tank and I have had him about 2 years. He will eat anything and graze on the live rock algae all day. I also have a yellow tang and a clown fish that he pals around with. They are fine together all day until it is lights out. The Foxface want to turn in for the night and change colors to a rotten banana. They all fight for the same spot every night for two years. They must work it out because they are all still alive but sometimes scarred. My kids love him too. Gave him an original name of Foxy.

i want to get a one spot foxface, its a 75g good enough? do they grow fast? i saw that the minimun size is 70g but its seems like its going to outgrow my tank, what do you think should i wait until i get a bigger one?

I think a lot of it depends on if you get it small and what it's tank mates are. I just put a small/medium sized one in my 90 gallon and it hangs out with my fish in a pack (Melanurus Wrasse, Coral Beauty Dwarf Angel and Leopard Wrasse and the One Spot). I would say a 75 should be enough for a One Spot if you get it small.

Wow, your Magnificent and my One Spot have the exact same diet. Took a few days for it to adjust to seaweed, but now it's a Seaweed vacuum.

Mine goes for the seaweed aggressively. He sees me coming and waits by the clip and then almost attacks it. He rips pieces off like a dog shaking a toy. It's pretty fun to watch.

Hi I love Foxface Rabbitfish' and I've read up a lot about them but I'd like to know a bit more about them specifically like their:

My Foxface gets along fine with everything in my tank. Never an issue. He eats everything and anything I put in the tank. He’s a great fish. If you get one, don’t be alarmed the first couple days if he turns brown and black and looks likes he’s dying. He’s not. They can turn crazy black and brown camouflage. Really scared me at first, but it is normal behavior. Now he does it a little bit once in a while. Very cool fish. Highly recommend.

I have a Foxface, Yellow Tang, Blue Hippo Tang, a Powder Brown as well as Blue Jaw Trigger and other assorted smaller fish. I have no aggression issues and the Foxface gets along fine with all.

I kept mine with two very cranky tangs and had no problems at all. They tested him a few times and he stood his ground and flashed his fins at them and that was it. It was the best fish I've had, ate anything including any algae in the tank.

I have a Magnificent Foxface with three tangs. A Purple tang, powder blue tang, and a Hippo tang. Nobody bothers him and he doesn’t bother anybody. Peaceful and a great addition thus far to my DT. Keeps my rocks in tip top shape.

I have one with a with a blue hippo and dejardini sailfin and he is definitely the least aggressive of the 3 fish. He eats algae great but does also nip at some of my LPS, gsp and devoured my gorgonian
