Do all Foxfaces leave some slime on the rocks? I think it's from them wearing their pajama colors at night. But I wanted to know if it's normal or the fish is stressed.

I've never noticed mine leave any !! Hmmmm now you got me wondering

My one spot does this...occasionally...from what ive read, its normal

I'm not sure if foxfaces hide in a mucuous coccoon like wrasses (but I believe they are in the same family). I see their mucous cocoons frequently, and it's just how they protect themselves from predator's sniffing them out at night. I want to say triggerfish also do this... My wrasses all have homes in the rock/sand and nobody is out at night. I see their cocoons usually around their sand dig out under the rocks where they slept.

I don't believe they have cocoon like wrasses (at least I've never seen it and I have 2 foxfaces), but every now and then, they are notorious for shedding a slimy coat. It floats around the tank and often other fish will eat it. Seems to be a thing with many venomous fish. Is it happening a lot? Does he seem stressed? I've read that sometimes they shed when they are stressed also.

Foxfaces don't cocoon like wrasses, but they do shed their slime coat from time to time. I see a thin mucous shroud floating around the tank about once a week, usually in the evening. Not sure why they do it, but it's normal.

Also, foxfaces/rabbitfish (family Siganidae) are not related to wrasses (family Labridae) at all. They are closely related to tangs.

X2 on all counts.
