My Foxface developed this spot as of today. Looks like a bruise. Wondering if it could be some form of disease starting? There has been an outbreak of ich for the past month and he has had it lately and been browner colored a lot, although eating like a pig still.

Thanks for any ideas!

To me it looks like an injury - and a significant one - with a likely bacterial infection. Was it QT'd - is it new? anything on other fish?

Thanks, it’s been in aquariums for several years, was healthy when I got it a month ago. There’s lots of ich in my tank and some recent deaths of firefish and a butterfly, but the other 30 fish(mostly small) have been making it through the ich. Is there anything I should do to try to treat the bacterial infection part of it?

I would place it in a hospital tank and treat with a broad spectrum antibiotic - unless someone else has a different idea - it's kind of an atypical lesion. @Jay Hemdal @vetteguy53081

Injury or even possible bite mark. Keep an eye on it for developing infection which would be treatable in QT with seachem Kanaplex or Maracyn 2 for 5 days

Likely an injury/skin and flesh wound. Make sure its not infected. I'm not an expert on fish injuries so I wouldn't know if its infected or not. How's it eating?
