Hi hope someone could help me just noticed this today looks like a white spot with what looks like a thorn sticking out of the side of my foxface.Tankmates are a Midas blenny, goby and two clownfish. He seems unbothered by it happily eating and swimming around anyone seen anything like this before?

Looks like a nick or bite from a tang or wrasse. The spot is dark and I dont believe its any worm or isopod but keep an eye on it to assure its healing. if not, you will need to quarantine and treat with seachem neoplex or maracyn 2

No wrasse or tang in the tank at the moment but maybe one of the other tankmates nipped him. He seems to be swimming happily with everyone bar the goby who is very protective of his cave so maybe it was him. I'll keep an eye on him for now and get some neoplex or maracyn 2 just in case. Thanks very much

Any "pokey" invertebrates in the tank like urchins? This really looks like a tang scalpel mark, so no tang in the tank, but maybe something else?

Jay

Mine gets that on occasion. I think sometimes it is from one of the tangs, but I also think he has hit himself on the rocks before. He is very comfortable in the tank and has been in there for about two years, but still gets freaked out now and then. When he does he jets off without looking and I think might hit a rock or coral on occasion. It always heals up within a week or so without issue.

No only a few snails in the tank no other invertebrates. Spotted goby, Midas blenny and two clownfish are his only company for now.

Could have banged into the live rock alright he does get freaked out from time to time and hides right in the crevasses so might have banged his side. I'll keep an eye on him it doesn't seem to be bothering him at all really

literally 2minutes ago heard a loud splash in tank and looked over and foxface freaked out for whatever reason and has a nick or two on him. They are so skittish. Lol. Happens quite often
