Foxface Spots

Just done with a water change and saw these spots on my foxface, had him for 2 weeks now and he still shows bad stress signs when doing a water change which I assume is normal.

They are small white spots, were not there before the water change which I cleaned the sand.

Could be: sand grains, mucus plugs, or marine ich. Sometimes, visible symptoms are not sufficient to ID an issue.

This bears watching - it looks like there are rings around the two spots on the yellow portion of the fish, so that rules out sand for those.

The main worry, of course is ich. Watch for spots that come and go, and generally increase in number over days. Also watch for spots on the other fish.

If ich gets started up in the tank, you'll need to treat it, either coppersafe or hyposalinity are the best choices, but those cannot be done with invertebrates present.

Thank you, I asked the store I get all my fish from and he thought it wasn't ich and was not sure what it was but was going to look into it. It is just strange that it came up after a water change.

No spots at all on the fins and shape not round/oval, so I’m not seeing ick or velvet.
Does look like something attached though.

It almost looks like they are protruding from his body.

Sorry for another post, I just checked my saltwater brute trashcan and there is some mold/algae in it. Don't think this would cause this? All my water parameters are fine, just checked.

It looks like fluke to me. It's not super dangerous and my tank gets it from time to time. Your fish has more flukes than mine have.

A freshwater dip helps a lot. Prazi for 3-5 hours with an air stone and heater is better still. If you treat it you'll be ok. If you don't you might be ok anyway.

Also, I've had luck with cleaner goby and cleaner shrimp. I've seen my cleaner goby suck a fluke out of my wrasse's eye. Boom, all better.

So I should get a cleaner shrimp to see if that helps? I have wanted one anyways.

It won't hurt, especially for any reoccurrence. But if I saw it that advanced I'd dip him.

This all assume I'm right and it's fluke. I'd love to see some of r2r's guru's tell us if I'm right.

What do I dip him in? Gonna be a pain to catch him if I have to!

Two steps

1) 3-5 minutes in fresh water and you'll see the flukes leaving him.
2) 3-5 hours in salt water with prazi, a small heater, and an air stone.

Step 2 removes all the little guys inside him, his gills, etc.

If I had to catch a rabbit fish I'd use nori in a trap.

Do I use freshwater or rodi?
