Hi there, not an emergency yet but my foxface has stopped eating spends 99% of his time in his sleeping space.
two days ago fed hi Kari and probiotic pellets which he devoured in usual pig fashion racing to get the most of any tank mate.
Coloration is good not even any stress colors. No marks scrapes specs and eyes are clear.
Hes been with me two years change no additions in last 3 months no incidental exposure from hands, household cleaning products etc.
only water issue is elevated no3 at 35 and po4 at .8
ive tried to watch for bowel movements but his fav spot is in far back.
Any thought on what ifs and possible interventions and timing like ex days no food no poop do a b or c?
tanks 75 gl
0 ammonia
0 nitrite
35 nitrates
po4 .8
temp 76.5
dkh 9.0
ca 385
mg 1230
appreciate any thoughts

Maybe he nibbles while your not watching.
I have a yellow that does this for days after a squabble.
He’s a 2 year fish, so should be pretty strong.
I’d just keep watch right now.
Sometimes these things come and go.

He's just constipated, dont feed the tank for a day or two unless you have tangs which expect and need it. If your feeding any protein for others stop it for a couple days. Giving a hungry fox protein is like feeding a fat kid cake. They will eat it and act weird, get sick, so on. If you have had it for 2 years then he probably doesn't need to be fed anything at all. The purpose of a foxface IMO is to add color and graze all day.

A fish not eating always makes me sit up and take notice. While it might be a transient issue, it is more often a symptom of a serious issue.
How is the fish’s respiration rate?
Jay

Can we get a pic or two of fish under white lighting?
what foods were you feeding?
What test kits are you using ?

Respiration has been normal. His behavior is similar to sulking when he gets startled.

Update Fface was out foraging and observed what I think is root cause.
Ive been cutting back on the high end greens and portions encourage back wall grazing. i think the tang decided to compete harder and chased the big baby to his corner.
going to up quantities get em swimming and playing nice again.
I appreciate the quick response folks :)
lesson keep the pigs fed…
