Hey guys so I introduced a yellow tang and it kept messing with my foxface so I took it out after a week hoping they’d start to get along so I took it out yesterday and my foxface is stressed he does his camouflage throughout the day and really only comes out to eat. Is there anything I can do to help with it or just wait it out and time will hopefully cure it? Thank you

Since you’ve removed the yellow tang, should go back to it’s regular coloring.

Tangs and Foxface are difficult to pair up in an average size tank. They're both herbivores (algae eaters) then on top of that a yellow tang resembles a Foxface making for more conflict. I had a powder brown tang and a one spot foxface and it was "game on warfare". I finally separated them in two different tanks and life is good.

Yeah wasn’t aware that they wouldn’t be a good pair till I brought the yellow tang home haha. Lesson learned now I gotta get rid of it sitting in the QT tank now till then

So it’s been 10 days since I removed the yellow tang and the fox face is still very stressed and does it camo. Constantly he eats when I feed them at least. Should I do anything to help with this or just kinda watch him

Trying to bump this. I too have a foxface that has been going camo a lot lately.. he’s paired with a sailfin tang and two clowns. Tang seems to leave him be most of the time though. At least from what I can tell.

This is interesting. I’ve had 3 Fox faces over the years and always had them with tangs no problem. What size is your tank? As for him being stressed, if he is eating and doesn’t show any physical signs of disease, I would leave him be and let him adjust. You may also consider that another factor could be stressing him in your tank. (Again, what size?)

Mine is a 90g. I feel he has a lot of room and some hiding spots. I’m wanting to add some more rock to my tank but I’m gonna need to cook it before I put it in, but that’s a whole nuther thread.

im surprised the tang actually scared the foxface, ive seen those guys spine an adult koran angel in the lip and it swelled up for like 3 days, they are pretty hardy too, ive witnessed whole tanks die, with the foxface as the sole survivor.

See I’ve read the same thing! These are supposed to be hardy fish AND they have their spines! I guess I’ll ride it out and just keep checking in on mine.

Hopefully Tyler’s pulled through...

Hmm, sounds like an adequate tank. I have no clue why he’s keeping his camo so long. I wish u the best of luck with him. Hope he gets happy soon
