Foxface venom

Yep, not so bad.
It feels like a bee sting that's it.
Now I'm a tough guy but I have heard others it was a worse, how much worse I don't know as we never heard again from those hobbyist ;)
Just as with other fish don't handle them with your hands, just a net and direct them in a clear bowl or bag if need to be removed.
Always bag under water.
As for maintenance in the tank I never got stung by any fish in over 30 years, besides some stupid clown fish or a giant 1" damsel who thinks he was Jaws :p

No problem with my fox face's over the years. Two stupid clowns attack me anytime my hand is in the tank. Kamikaze style.

Never had an issue with my Foxface and he eats out of my hand. The kids get a trip when he grabs the food from my hand because he will spike right before and right after.

My wife got poked during a tank transfer and described it like a bee sting. I am not sure if some people are alergic and can have a bad reaction or not but that would be my primary concern.

I've had a magnificent for years and never any issues. I did take a couple of barbs in the thumb from a lion fish and that was the worst pain I think I've ever felt. Had to have the barbs removed.

It was excruciating. Felt like my hand was in fire. Until the barbs were removed from my thumb, it kept pulsing. The only relief was running my hand under the hottest water I could stand.

It depends on how many spines are involved and how much venom was injected, as to how much pain you'll feel. If it wasn't very painful, you didn't get injected too bad. If you get a lot of venom, it will not be "just a sting" no matter what your pain threshold is.

I wouldn't worry about an allergic reaction, even if you're allergic to bees. It's not the same venom.
