I added a foxface to my display almost 2 months ago and it still hasn't gotten back it's bright yellow color.
The top half of its body is black and it's been this way the whole time it's been in this tank. When he was in quarantine it was bright yellow (granted it took awhile to get rid of the dark coloration then as well, but not 2 months..)
Should I be worried? Will it brighten up eventually?
I'm attaching some not so great photos so u can get an idea of what I'm talking about

What size tank and can you post your parameters? What other fish are in the tank with it?

150 gallon tank with 2 clowns and a royal gramma.
Salinity 1.025
Nitrate 20ish
Calcium 450
Alk 10
Mag 1350
What, how much, and how often are you feeding it?

He gets an algae sheet once a day and I also have an auto feeder that feeds a flake/pellet mix once a day
Hmm could me a nutritional issue or stress. Let's get more eyes on him for you and tag the rest of the #reefsquad :)

Thanks.
I was thinking stress as well from being moved to a new tank cause I know how skiddish and whatnot these guys are, but it's been almost 2 months now..

After 2 months I doubt it’s stress unless tankmates are stressing it out.

I would skip flakes and pellets and feed more robust frozen foods strained and soaked in selcon, zoecon, or vita chem.

Live blackworms are highly nutritious and should add color in a few weeks.

Perhaps the lighting isn’t flattering for the fish?

He's never touched frozen when I've fed it before. Loves the flakes and pellets tho. Should I turn off the auto feeder and only feed frozen for awhile and see if he eats it?

Anything I can do about the lights? Using sbreef leds. On something like 40% blues 10% whites

Is this a magnificent foxface? They typically wouldn't be bright yellow like A one spot would be. They camouflage themselves for protection. Just a thought.

Not a magnificent.
Here's a couple photos from when he was in quarantine

I’d try it a few days yes. I bet the live blackworms would do the tricks.

If the live blackworms work would that mean I'd have to feed those regularly?
Also, is there a recommended place for ordering live blackworms?
Once every couple months (they should last about a week each tine with a keeper).

Google it there are a few places :)

Will do thank you
What are the most nutrious frozen foods to look for?
Spirulina brine and PE Mysis, I mix in bloodworms, krill, squid, and a couple green options.

Rods is good stuff as well.

I have one also and he has been that dull yellow since I put him in the big tank. I have a 125g. I assumed he just didn't want to color up that bright with the surroundings. I feed only frozen and algae sheets. Will be following along to see if I need to do something different also. Overall he seems happy. Had him about 3 months. He was yellow at LFS.

Autofeeders are a recipe for disaster in the long run IMHO. I would only ever use one if I was going on vacation. Frozen foods really are best for the long term health of your fish. As mentioned above Frozen Spirulina would be an excellent choice. Also, it might be just me, but it seems like the lighting in your tank is a bit dim. Since Foxfaces tend to be more muted in color in the twilight hours it could be that.

Think I should try upping the whites a bit? It's currently set to 40% blue 10% white
