Hey guys,

Ive had a foxface before and i want another one, but I'm actually getting coral. starburst and super colored polyps, green striped mushroom, and toadstool leather are the corals I'm getting. I know he isn't technically reef safe, but sometimes they don't nip and i don't want him to. Any suggestions?

We have always kept Foxface rabbitfish in our reefs and have never had issues with them nipping any corals, zoa's or mushroom polyps. They do require macro algae or nori in their diet.

We keep a One Spot Foxface in our prop-tank. He does an excellent job of keeping it algae free and has never bothered any of the corals in that tank.

I currently have a very small fox face in my mixed reef tank. He is probably almost 2" and I have had him now for about three weeks. I spend a good amount of time watching my tank, and I have not seen him even look at corals like my angelfish does.

I think you will be okay.

I had one in the old 125g, he did a number on my zoas along with my Hippo Tang. They both came out of the tank.

I think its how often you feed them. Ive never kept one with coral, so tuesday is gonna be an interesting day when everything arrives. thank everyone.

Keep Reefin,

Chris

I have had 3 foxfaces in three different tanks packed with corals, and never once saw any of the three pick at a coral. I consider them as reef safe as any tang.

I had one devour a long tentacle anemone

Although my foxface experience is thus far limited, Ill go ahead and +1 the well fed. I also keep a pomacanthus navarchus in my 125g - and that is definitely not a reef safe fish. He has only killed one coral, and I have had him for over a year in that tank.
