Foxface with red spots

Hi I've just noticed red spots on my foxface, hes behaviour has nt changed and is still eating, all other fish appear normal any ideas

Looks like something similar to freshwater Furunculosis caused by lice or gram negative/gram positive bacteria.

I,ve had him about 2wks, got him from a friend who was breaking his tank due to moving house. I must admit the spots look different under white light. Tank is 220g ish UK, also got some other fish from him, I,ve no Qt but am dosing polyp lab, been dosing for 2wks 5 scoops/day.

Ha, of course the white light shots show me LESS detail (grin). The Polyp Labs Medic is proprietary, but seems to be a peroxide salt. As such, the dose needs to be low enough not to harm your invertebrates, but then, it is too low to be an effective cure for many diseases.

Except that this fish had lived in another person's tank, these spots could be flukes. Those typically become a problem about 3 to 6 weeks after acquiring a fish, and this fish had lived in the other person's tank,so the timing doesn't work. Still, a FW dip might tell you something (see if flukes fall off). If you can catch the fish safely (for it and for you - they have venomous spines) you could try a 5 minute FW dip and see if flukes fall off.

Hi yes, It is extremely easy. All you need to do is take some RO/Heater some people put a bubbler in the water make sure there is oxygen, but people suggest to dip 5-10 minutes... If it is flukes you will see them in the bucket afterwards they fall of the fish. It is super easy if you just look up a couple youtube videos!

I use tap water as opposed to ro/di as the pH is usually closer. Use an air stone to help dislodge any flukes, use a dark container, cover it and don’t get stung! Look at the bottom of the dip afterwards for any dead worms, some may be long, others are seed shaped.
