Ok I have kind looked through here and not seeing anything on this. Hope someone can help out I got a 1 spot foxface rabbit fish form one of our locals. I was not planning on getting him so not a lot of info I have read. One thing I have seen is they like to have more than 1, is that true. Next part is I like to feed my fishbut want to make sure I dont miss something for him. I am using Reef Muscle a local food here in KC and Mysis Shrimp do I need more than that?

I have a metallic fox face in a community tank with a bunch of tangs. They eat pellets and love them. Also some seaweed from a clip. They will be perfect as a single in a community tank. He eats anything. Actually a pig.

They can definitely be alone. My magnificent foxface bonded with my copperband butterfly. I actually hadn't heard about keeping them in pairs. (I'm not saying it's not true, just not anything I had ever heard mentioned as preferable before.)

Foxfaces also eat algae, so definitely plan on some sort of nori and/or seaweed mixed food. He will pick at your rock all day too.

I miss mine a lot. He was Foxface Mulder <3

Thanks for fast response. I am less than 6mon old on my 1st tank and I have to say there is a lot of fish I am finding like to pair up. I was only going to put 1 firefish gobi but after research I found they tend to be better in schools much like Chromis are. I have been coming across many in small tank need to solo but if you have a larger tank it might be better to have two. I have a 125 so was wondering it that would be big enough. I will get me some of the sheets for my clip only thing that would eat that in mine was a Tomini Tang so having a sheet in the tank did no real good.

Firefish don't generally school. They will pick off the others like the Highlander until there can be only one! ;) Seriously, if you get an established/bonded pair from someplace like Diver's Den, it will probably work. In general, a group thing isn't ideal though. (I am sure someone will have an exception to this based on tank size, but don't feel obligated to have a group.)

I'm not aware of many fish that "need" to pair. Most will be fine as singles. I've never heard that Foxfaces like pairs and have always thought the opposite. I kept my Magnificent as the only Foxface in my tank because I figured they would fight.
