Frag browning underneath

I mounted a couple acro frags diagonally and they are browning on the underneath, where the light does not hit them.

Is this something I should live with or am I doing something wrong?

I read that mounting them this way would make them grow fuller.

Here is a pic for reference. I spun this one around by 40 degrees to try and show the browning.

I don't know about growing fuller horizontally but any of my corals that get shaded for an extended period will definitely suffer as a result on the shaded side.
