Hi All,
Not sure if others do this, but here is a little trick for mounting your frags... Essentially, I build a putty mold that 'latches' onto the rock with space for the frag plug. It works really well for extending your rockwork!

a video is worth a 1000 words, so here is a link

My concern would be once it grows out and gets heavy and since it will be encrusted on the flare out and not the rock it can fall easily

A valid concern. But from my Experience, the frags typically encrust over the putty, kind of sealing the two bits together, before vertical size of the colony becomes a big issue

I do the exact same thing, but I allow the epoxy to dry out of water first, then use reef glue to hold in place. I've had too many instances of epoxy just deciding to let go. Reef glue, not so much . Good vid for creating more shelf space!!

Awesome video , what putty do you use. I have the two fishie putty and it made my skimmer go crazy.

I also use the two little fishies putty l. Drying it outside of the tank helps but yes it can make skinner overflow
