I have a local pottery shop/school and could be able to get some pottery that has broken while it was in the kiln. My question is, would it be safe to use unglazed pieces as frag plugs?

Thank

not sure if this is the right place to post this so if needed please move

I was thinking along the same lines but just want some feed back to make me feel better. I figured all the people here were my go to people to make sure it was a good idea and see if there is any thing I should do to it when I get it.

I think I will take a ride over and see if I can get a bucket of broken pots and cups.

I have made live pieces of clay and glazed them with clear food grade glaze and made some frag plugs as well, its been 9 months and never had any issue...

Go to Home Depot and get a Box of travertine tiles. If you don't have a ceramic saw to cut them. Get a hammer and smash into pieces. Take a pair of pliers and break of the sharp edges and you are good to go!!!
