Alright I have a question about making my own frag plugs. Basically my parents own their own ceramic company and have all the kilns and what not. So I have them just make me some tester. I had them make flat squares that are 1/2"x1/2". I just put them in a glass of RO/DI water and I noticed they started to have little air bubbles come out of them. I have not tested the water for anything before I did this or since I have done this. After about 15 mins the bubbles stopped. Should I use a special type of ceramic or is this just because they have no paint or sealer in them. They are basically just clay (slip, ceramic)?

Whenever I buy new ceramic frag plugs they always bubble temporarily, and I just assumed it was any air in them escaping.

This is correct. It's simply the water replacing the air that has been trapped inside the plug.

I recommend curing plugs prior to using them. I know the manufacturers say that ceramic frag mounts don't need to be cured, I like to error on the side of caution and cure anyways. I put the mounts in the tank section of my toilet (not the bowl) & with every toilet flush, you get a water change.

That sounds like a great idea as long as you dont have any of the toilet bowl cleaners in there.
