Frag plugs..

Depends... If the coral is encrusting on the plug, I wouldn't remove it. However, if it is a pretty recent glueing, then, well, it still depends...

If it is easier for me to jam the talk of the frag into a rock hole, then I will remove it, however if it is easier to jam the plug into a rock hole, I would keep it.

Also, depending on the piece and placement, I sometimes just cut the plug's plug off (so it is just a disc) and wedge it in somewhere or place it on the sand bed.

I don't like the look of plugs and for some species they can impede natural growth; I vote take them off if possible. Certainly, one option to consider is to mount your coral on a piece of rubble to achieve a more natural look.
