I recently bought a frogspawn and bam bam zoas. They came on frag plugs. I was wondering if I have to take them off, or can I just let them grow on there?

I cut the bottom off and glue all of them to a rock. Can take them off or leave them on just depends on what you wanna do;)

Oh okay! I am thinking of cutting the bottom part off and setting it onto the rock. Is it necessary to glue it?

You can use some aquarium epoxy and fill in the gap between the plug and rock, then the coral will grow over the epoxy and eventually onto the rock :)

If you choose not to glue them to the rock, what happens then? Because I feel like I want my frogspawn off the rocks and in the front of the tank on the plug it was set on. Where would the zoas go after they have overtaken the plug?

The Frogspawn depending on the type, will grow various ways. If it is Branching then it will...branch outward making a large colony. If it is the wall variety it will just keep expanding like inflating a balloon.
The Zoas once they outgrow their plug will start to grow onto surrounding areas. So if it's on the substrate, it would attach to the gravel around it. With rocks, the same thing.

Hmm okay. I will post pics of frogspawn. If the zoa grow on the sand substate can I eventually move it onto a rock?

I HATE frag plugs lol :) i try to get everything off of them or to grow over. BUT, sometimes they're handy.

the frogspawn - how many heads does it have? Is the head at the end of a "branch"? if so, you could bury the plug in the sand & the frogspawn is like a "tree". mine is only a single head - this is what it looks like. i buried the frag plug under the sand.

for the zoas - are they on a piece of rock which is glued to the plug or are they on the plug directly? If on the plug directly, im not qualified to help lol. I've never tried to get them off when they are directly on the plug. if they're on a piece of rock which is glued to a plug, you can just pop them off the disk and glue wherever.

I dont glue/epoxy/remove from disk right away either. I try to find a spot in the tank where the piece will thrive. once a sweet spot is found, then I'll pop off disk is possible/necessary, and then glue to a rock or place in the sand.

if you post pics of the frags i think ppl would be able to give you more specific advice. :)

I always try to get rid of the plugs. If it's zoas, palys, or rics I tend to leave them on the plug, glue it where I want it, and let it grow. With your I'd do what illdoya does and bury the plug.

Its a single head polyp. Im guessing the body looking thing below it is part of the plug? But the zoas have room to grow. I would rather leave the frogspawn on the substrate if possible

I don't see a plug in the first pic, but if that's where you want it, I don't see a problem with leaving it there for now. If it is on a plug, you can bury it like someone else mentioned so it doesn't topple over when it gets bigger and heavier
