If it's on the inside, I would just take a paper towel and fold it into quarters and dip it the the water and with one movement press it against the rust spot and wiping in a upwards direction and out of the tank all in one move.
Don't rub it back and forth

Maybe run a little carbon.
It's a small spot so it doesn't look like it sat there rusting for a long time.

I am running fresh carbon since Friday I’ll change it again tomorrow with a. Fresh so no worries ? Here I did remove the f c rack and instead ima glue algae scraper -.-

It really doesn't look bad at all. You caught it early.
The magnet doesn't look as bad as some I've seen.

If you had some Magic Eraser, that might clean it too, instead of a paper towel.

Lol gfo ?
Hahaha and yes I’ll go buy son good paper towels the ones I have will dissolve in there
Does this happen a lot ?

Well both are ferrite oxide, so yeah, it’s almost like gfo (okay, that’s a bit twisting it). Maybe a microfibre rag would also work just fine in the removal process

Hmm I am not trusting magnets in my tank no more a while back my mp40 wet side was red on the magnet eco sent a replacement without even asking for the warranty number

They just send a msg back to replace it with the new one now I am starting to think it was leaking rust

I agree that it is more than likely going to be just fine. If it were me, I'd run a small piece of polyfilter just incase it has leeched something you might need to worry about. Cheap insurance IMO.

You can get plastic and rubber coated magnets in pretty much any size and strength from www.kjmagnetics.com I have purchased from them several times and am very pleased. I've had several plastic coated one holding up frag racks for me for 5+ years. They look as good as the day I put them in the tank.

hth!

You need to trust them, as everything uses them:) But like I’ve sad, it’s not such a big drama to get a little rust. It’s not good, but if you catch it this soon as you did with this, you’ll be okay.

I can’t really take of the rust only way is to scrape it off

Rust can slowly kill a tank, as I saw first hand, so removal is important. If it's not coming off, I'd suggest a razor blade. Remove water down to below the rust, scrape it off without getting it in the water, then do a water change. You want a water change anyway.

Fixed the frag tray with a mag float I had as a spare now I am shading a bit my frogspawns but don’t think is to much of a deal .
rust was scraped off and hopefully I got it all in the paper towel
New carbon is in and new filter sock
And would it really kill of my tank slowly
