Need help deciding on a frag saw I was wanting a Inland dfs100 and I talked to my locally pet store about buying one and they said that they were having problems with them and sent them all back and they had a different brand it was a little better but twice as much .

The Inland is a good saw for hobby use, blade wear will be dictated by what you are cutting, for example, if you cut just coral skeleton the blade will last a long time; if you cut a lot of frag plugs the blade will wear out faster; if you cut plugs made from cement the blade will wear out very fast. I've gotten as long as 6 months use from the inland blade but as little as 2 months cutting "maricultured acro plugs" (cement). I've had quite a few parts break on the Inland saw but the replacement parts are very cheap.

The Gryphon saw is a stronger built saw and the blade wear is about the same as the Inland, there is only one part that has gone out on the Gryphon for me, the motor bearing wore out and upon contacting customer service, we were told that if saltwater was the cause for the bearing going bad that the warranty was void. We found that very odd since the saw is marketed for cutting saltwater corals. The blade clearance on the Gryphon is much smaller than the Inland.

If I was to buy another saw again, I will buy the Inland, cheaper replacement parts, cheaper blades, and better clearance.

Inland failed on me, I guess something caused the motor to short out and blow up. I really like the Precision 2000, it's not too big and bulky. Like others have said, blade wear depends on what your cutting. Solid rock will dull the blade quick vs cutting into LPS branches or even SPS.

Just do a Google search there are a few places and some videos seems like a well thought out saw

Gryphon for two years and it's out performed my old inland. In lands a good saw but my blades in my Gryphon last far longer and has a good clearance for larger pieces.

were did you get a precision 2000 at

Talk to your LFS, they can get it for you but don't let them rip you on one.

Blades last depending on what your cutting and how you cut. Some prefer no water, others do. Again, some cut into 1/2" cement, etc.

Wet saw blades last longer when water is applied while cutting. Using a Wet Saw to cut anything and not using the water system as advise will lessen the life of any Wet Saw blade. I've done tile work professionally and there's not much difference.
If you don't like using water then why pay for a wet saw????

I highly recommend the Gryphon Corrosion Resistant version. Thats what I use and its great! I frag for like 2 hours at a time every other week and it runs strong. Its also specially designed for saltwater. They also have a new one out with a much higher clearance, but the regular size saws clearance goes up if you take off the upper blade guide to cut something taller.

+1 they really design these with this hobby in mind.

I have used both Gryphon and the Inland. Gryphon is easier to use but my Inland lasted three years and I replaced ever part that could be replaced before putting her down. I like the Gryphon better for ease of use. Easier to clean and put together. I have had the Gryphon for three months. So far so good.
