I've not been to a frag swap and have a few questions, like

What is the best container to take along?

Are there generally good deals to be had?

Are other inverts besides corals usually sold?

I'd take a cooler of some kind, preferably one that would be water tight or keep leaking water inside of it. There can be good deals but you have to have an idea of prices or look up on your phone what something might normally sell for. Also, corals aren't inverts, not sure if that was a typo? But as for inverts sold at frag swaps, that will vary from swap to swap.

I second the cooler.

Depending on the frag swap you might find other things but usually 99% corals some anemones and fish. Don’t see too much as far as snails, crabs and shrimp...

Things to know:
-Always take a small cooler or lunchbox/bag with you to keep coral at temp.
-Keep in mind not all prices are set, bargain if u see the opportunity. The more u buy the better the deals.
-Take a walk around and visit all the vendors before jumping on a deal, chances are another vendor has it cheaper.
-Take advantage of all the freebies given. Many if not all big brand companies hand out fish food/stickers/koozies, etc.
-There almost always is a vendor selling inverts and fish. You can score some good deals here. Just make sure u take a good long look at what you are getting because once its home its too late.
-Try and get acquainted with your local reefing community there. Your networking will pay off in the future.
Hope this helps!

Also remember that what a corals look like in a vendors tank, may not look the same in your tank, unless you are running the same lights. Most vendors like to keep the blues turned way up so everything just "pops" which makes the corals look awesome. But you can ask the vendor to turn the "whites" up till it mimics your tanks light spectrum. Then you can make a better informed decision about which coral to buy.

And another tip. Sometimes the best deals are made at the end of the swap!

My advice is to look at everything before purchasing anything. And definitely haggle, especially towards the end of the day. Additionally, if you buy more than 1 coral from the same vendor a lot of them will do deals.
