Ok so need some help! I have a 50 gallon low boy with a trigger 34 sump. I am not wanting to put sand or rock (if possible) in the main display. What should I use for bio filtration... so far I have 1 marine pure bio block and 1 box of the bio balls they make. Can anyone help me to figure out if that would be enough or if not what would I need to add? Wanting to grow corals!
Thank you so much and any advice is greatly appreciated!

Beneficial Bacteria will also grow on your frag plugs, eggcrate, and what ever else you have in the system, so as long as your fish/invert stocking (if any) is minimal you should be fine, You can never have too much beneficial bacteria growing in your system.

That’s enough, marine pure blocks are great ime. I have very minimal rock in both my tanks, marine pure keeps them both balanced without tons and tons of rocks ime. Figurative Tons.

Believe those should be enough. My only concern is the Al they are famous for releasing.

I had issues with the blocks back in the day, had aluminum leaching confirmed by an ICP test. This was about 10 years ago, not sure if it's been corrected since then as I have heard lots of success stories with it. Once I got rid of mine, my problems started going away which was a shame as they are EXTREMELY efficient for use in a sump.

What about ceramic bio rings? Any cons against those? I’m also setting up a drag tank.

Ok thanks for the help 2 more question... I got the sump from a friend of mine and noticed it didn’t have socks or roller Mat, but has the fug never had one set up like this, is there anything I need to add to keep the water cleaner?
