So I've just build my first frag tank thats connected to my main tank sump. I'll be adding crushed corals for my frag tank's bedding and i am concerned if it would pose problems such as producing ammonia to my main tank. Will it produce ammonia or increase nitrate significantly? Thanks before

Is it live or dry crushed coral? It should not have much of an effect on your main tank as nothing is dying or has died in your sand/ crushed coral. You will probably experience algae issues however.

Dry crushed coral, would there be any dead bacteria decaying from the crushed coral

No, just rinse it off good to remove dust, bugs, dirt, hair and anything that may have died awhile ago.

If you are running a frag tank. I think bare bottom would be best.

I am also in the process of setting up a frag tank and I am also using crushed coral, weird right but it’s on it’s own system, what was your reasoning for going crushed coral instead of say special grade sand? I’m going with a RUGF ran out of my sump so the crushed coral was the easy pick. I also plan on using large frag disk 2-3” round to mount everything too so no egg crate, what’s your plans?
