The start to something amazing (hopefully)

A few months back I decided I am going to start a frag tank. Mainly becuase I'm tired of seeing 3+ frag racks in my display tank (DT). And if I'm going to do this, I'm going to do it right.

Lets start this build with dimensions of the tank and sump. Both made by Advanced Acrylics

Awesome. I'm loving the effort people are starting to put into their frag tanks. They really can be something special.

Looks good, keep us posted. I'm looking to start one myself. What is the water volume of the tank?

Stand is in!!
So... Considering the Tank is wayyy smaller than the sump, I chose to go with a big stand to fit the sump.. and place the tank in the middle.
I mean, the more water volume, the better right? Check out the photos..

The stand will be painted black today.. i'll post another update tonight

Time for paint.
Well.. Primer first.
Sanded down one more time to get all finger oils off the wood.

Primer.. rolled it all.. Took forever to get in all the crevices inside the stand.

And now paint, Used a spray gun.. finished in no time and came out super smooth!

I like it! What about putting the tank off to the side of the stand giving you a larger work space for fragging?

Very nice set up and cabinet work. I'm in the works of doing one so I will follow this thread

Today i'm building a light rack.. out of metal.. yeahhhh i know some people are against using metal, but itll be painted and i've done it before... it wont rust.
The only weird thing is that its going to have to be designed in a way that goes around the external overflow.
Going to be using a Radion on this build.. sooo lets see how this goes. Photos will be up asap for you all :D

Nice frag tank, sump, and cars!! However, I see a frag tank upgrade, say a 48x24x12, in the near future! :D

HAHA! Dang.. already see it happening huh..
youre probably right..
I definitely have the space for it if it comes down to that.
Thats another plus about the big stand/sump, it would be an easy upgrade

Here is a mock up of how the stand will look. of course longer to the middle of the tank.. and not as tall

Whats up everyone! Heres the tank up in my room. Decided to go with it centered.
Also, since it has an external overflow, its going to have to be pushed forward, away from the wall.

Decided i'm going to go the manifold route on this build. Going to be using 1 pump for everything!!
This is my first time doing this, so bare with me..
The plumbing planning has begun!
