So this will be my first frag tank. Main purpose of my frag tank is to have a backup tank for all my favorite corals. 6 months ago I had a mini crash and lost some great frags and colonies that I can't replace. So I'll be fragging my display and putting a backup of everything in the frag tank, haha.

Light is a 36in teak 4 bulb T5, I plan to upgrade to LEDs very soon. I just need to decide what fixture I'm going with. I don't like the looks of DIY and since this doesn't have a canopy I'm going to go with a premade LED Fixture.

Bought the tank and stand used from a friend. 36x18x12.
Has a nice clean looking stand, looks the same all the way around with no visible doors. The entire panels can come off pretty easily.

Painting the bottom. Going black with black egg create. I want a nice clean/sleek look.

The tank is on sliders because I'm not 100 percent sure exactly where I want it.

Sump. External pump that goes up to the tank, to the refung and also through the UV sterilizer.

Since I didn't want to put holes in my ceiling especially since I didn't know exactly where I want, and to accommodate any kind of light it I built a steel arm for my light.

Measure wrong so had to add some more wood to the stand for the bracket to fit onto. Then mounted it and had forgotten to paint the **** wood....

Nice work! Definitely a well thought out and slick looking setup! Can't wait to see it up and running.

I was thinking of making a rectangular frag rack made of black egg crate to cover the bottom. Then I was going to cut out the middle section, like a 12x12 island, and raise it up a couple inches. I'd do that and put SPS on that platform. I thought it also might slow down the flow for my Chalices that I want to put in the very front. Thoughts?

Is that idea worth the hassle or should I just leave it flat all the way?
