Frag Tank Club

Since everyone is doing frag tanks, I thought I might try to keep up with the cool kids and throw something together :nerd: Well, that and we ordered more frags from the Cherry Live Sale than we have room for...

I had an old "custom" tank made of apparently scrap glass panels, but after hearing Lindsey's story, that has turned into a bunch of shards in the burn pile and I used something a little more reliable.

JBJ Nano 28
eShoppes Nano Skimmer
Koralia Nano 425
Ordered a Reef Radiance 132 last night.
Build a 2 shelf rack out of egg crate.
Going to pick up a few pounds of rock today.

It ain't pretty, but it holds water...

Plenty of room for our Cherries and the Swap is coming up fast!

Gonna post up pics of what we got from Cherry today. Hopefully, we'll be bringing some new and interesting stuff into the club to share. BUT... if we do the swap like we did last year, I'll be upgrading the frag tank in mid April. Ended up with 23 frags and a mated pair of clowns.

NICE!!!!!! I have a TON of Zoas for this years Fragstravaganza! Next weekends project is to get the mini colonies all hacked up and on their plugs and then let them grow out for 3 months.

Like it! I just picked up a 20L that I'm going to make into a frag tank. Nearly talked myself into going back and getting the 29 gallon though...

If things work out the way I hope it should happen weeks before the swap/show/sell - a - thon (or whatever we call it now.)

Well, the nano didn't work out. Brought it up, and with minimal rock and no sand... no filtration. The amount of algae in that tank is AMAZING. So...

Picked up a 50 long at Glasscages... I know, but it was already drilled with overflow and very cheap. Already had a 20L for a sump, a 48x18 stand from the 90, the DM155e from the Nano Cube, and almost all the plumbing parts. Picked up some sand and some rock today, so it's wet and the sandstorm is settling. Once I get the light hung, I'll post up a picture.

BTW, I love the 48x18x13 dimensions. Even Dishan can reach the bottom! Lol!

Umm.... that plan didn't work. Apparently, if you put too much lateral stress on a bulkhead, it cracks the bottom. Who knew? Saved the rock and sand, but dumped 50gallons of new saltwater into the yard. Oh, and threw some money down the drain. Soon to be started over. I'm also considering starting a tank making business. Going to look into that "transparent aluminum" they were talking about in Star Trek 4.

I guess "tad more" is a subjective term. So I should put away the monkey wrench, right? On the positive side, we're going to go ahead and upgrade to to 50 long rimless. It's only money.

It Is ALIVE! Just letting it settle in, then the Nano comes down for good. Oh, and wave your hand in front of your face and say, "That's not the Prizm skimmer you're looking for. Move along." The real skimmer got delayed in shipping.
