Hey fellas,
So I currently have a 40 g frag tank that has been set up for around 3 months now. No problems until now! So I woke up 2 days ago and noticed my water has gotten extremely cloudy maybe 1-2” visibility. I am currently running filter socks as well as 40lbs of live rock in the sump as filtration. I have tried numerous water changes as well as doing a 70% water change. Water has been crystal clear until now. MY corals are starting to suffer. (Monti Cap and others starting to lose coloration)
Running 2 Kessil 160
Running 4 t5 ( Blue, purple, white, white.

Please let me know what I can do to save my corals!

Appreciate everything!

Can you tell us what your inhabitants are? Any anemones, macro algae, or any chemical dosing you're doing?

Three things to look into that I typically see cause fogginess (assuming you didn't stir up the sand):
1. Bacterial bloom (Watch your PH levels)
2. Caulerpa going sexual
3. Anemone spawning

Thanks for the response!
Currently I have 1 yellow tang and 1 six line wrasse. As for corals, i only keep SPS including acros as well as montis(no Nems) This tank is bare bottom so sand shouldn’t be an issue.
I have polyp labs “one” which I dose about once a week.

I can also run some testing and share with you the results of you would like.

Testing Results:
Salinity- 1.025
Alkalinity- 10
Magnesium- 1700
Calcium - 410
High range PH- 8.0

Pull socks and clean if indicated. Run some charcoal. Run UV if you have one. Skip feeding for the day. Run skimmer wet

I do not run my alk and mag as high, but consistency is the key.

Every once in awhile I get a bacterial bloom. I use a UV and Charcoal and cut out feeding for a day.
