My main display is doing pretty well. My frag tank is young but cycled. I had zoas palys blastos acros torch abs hammers. All doing fine. Than I got my new ai prime 16hd and turned it on. And now everything’s dying. Parameters ammonia 0 nitrite 0. Nitrate 0 but I don’t believe API kit. Everything was out abs happy until I bought an ai prime. 5g nano frag tank. I just lost 200 bux in frags in the last week. Came today my torch was completely gone. Flow is moderate. No matter what settings I’ve tried on this light noting seems to do well

I’d just go back to the old one for now maybe turn them both on at the same time ai is really powerful

I don’t get it. I’ve had it at 15 percent to maybe max 30 percent and corals go from colourful to gone in a day or so. This light has been so frustrating

Just tested Silinity 1.028. Crap. Would that do it??

1.026 a week ago did a water change. Didn’t top off maybe properly. I’ve been putting my heart soul abs wallet into this. It’s not going well for my frag tank

Funny thing is Last March when I started my display it was just cycled put in zoas and all kinds of mixed stuff abs everything is doing well. Lost a couple to trial abs error but everything else is fine. So I do this frag tank and nothing wants to live should I turned the ai prime down to 15 percent will see what happens

Are you topping off with saltwater?

In part yes. Also when firing up a new light, place newspaper underneath and start with soft blue and slowly ramp up the colors.
For salinity, scoop out sevaral cups and replace with ro in the sump and test salinity until 1.025. . . SLOWLY

Yeah in my opinion this has nothing to do with your light and you're solving the wrong problem.

There's something else going on you and we are not noticing.

Are you doing WC's? How many gallons is your Frag Tank?

IME I'd be doing 50-100% water changes every other day on a smaller system with new Frags until everything really stabilizes out.

Did you also cut and frag and add everything at once? Or is this just your QT tank for new frags you buy from stores?

We don't know necessarily the impacts of large amounts of healing or trying to heal coral on a system like that. Not based on anything but just my opinion Healing corals would need a similar nutrient supplement to coral suddenly growing a lot. They're going to ultimately be trying to do the same thing IMO, on top of the decaying rotting zoo from parts you fragged.

Then with coral dying, leeching for decaying zoo, it's a dwindling spiral.

Is it in the same room as your Display?

There's a lot of different factors that can come into play here.

Bought the frags online they were healed when I got them the frag tank is 5 gallon. It’s smal only has a few frags I have. Been doing 50 Percent water changes on this tank

Interesting. How frequent are the WCs? Im assuming daily. Might not be enough export or import at 50% on a small system. Or maybe smaller more frequent is smarter.... did you try either?

What's your water source?

All I was trying to do was make a coral qt tank. 5g. Nice hang on back filter with carbon and bio media from my display. Also have a Fluval sea small wave maker in there as well I have tried flow is no issue.

I was doing water changes twice a week not enough on this system?

How long are you mixing your salt? Are you doing this at home?

Did you mix your salt before you mixed your salt. i.e. mix your salt mix dry and then mix it wet. (you need to mix your salt dry first btw everyone)
