I have a small frag tank I am looking to get going I have a spare 70 watt sunpod the frag tank is about 8in tall i believe its like 11 gallons 20x16x8 i plan on building about a 4 in frag rack would the 70 watt sunpod support all corals or should i look for something a little stronger?

That is a good question. I just put a Reef Optix 3 with a 250 n14 k on my frag tank. It is built in to the sump and is 20x20x9. The frag rack sits up about 1.5 inches and the light is about 8 inches above the water line. Not sure if this is too much or not.

im thinking it should be enough as long as its not to high off the surface... if anyone can chime in much appreciated

What will you be keeping in there (softies, zoas, LPS, SPS)? That will help with a recommendation.

a little bit of everything... I dont frag sps much still letting them grow out but i occasionally have a broken piece... mainly zoas and lps...

Most LPS and zoas should be fine under that lighting although some thrive in higher light. If you plan on keeping SPS in there, I would bump it up a bit (perhaps 150w Sundpod or supplement with some T5's - AquaBlue Specials or Blue+). That would be the least amount of light I would put over the tank.

i keep a 150w lamp over my 12g nanocube that i'm using for a temporary frag tank. 70w might be a little weak if you're going to frag sps, but most softies would be alright.
