I am sure this has been discussed 50k times on this site but I will still ask ha! I am setting up a basic frag tank since I have all the pieces parts laying around and a nano reef that is exploding at the seems with coral. If i use the water from water changes from my main tank and dump that into the frag tank along with some bio filter (those porus cubes) from my main tank into the frag should it be good to go then. I would imagine since the water is already cycled and so is the filter it shoudnt have any spike or anything. Thoughts?

The water holds little to no actual bacteria... but any rock or other media would help jump start the new frag tank. It really all depends on the size of the new tank, how much media you're going to put in it, and what corals/fish you plan on adding to the frag tank.

Its going to strictly be a coral frag tank no fish. Its just a small 20 gallon with an aqua clear filter, heater, a few marine pure blocks and I do have like a 3-5 lb LR i coudl throw in there just wasnt sure if you should add LR to frag tanks. I know QT tanks you dont but wasnt sure about frag.

Just throw some filtering media in ur running tank for 1-2 weeks itll get seeded with bacteria, them slowly move it to the new tank to seed it
U can add every few day to keep a constant supply of bacteria. I still wouldn't move corals before 2-3 weeks minimum.
Would he easier if u could just connect both tanks together.

That was my plan to move everythign slowly. Cant connect the two since my main tank is an AIO
Anyway to route the drain of the frag tankninto the sumpmof the AIO and then a pumpmwould.return.water in a hose or.plumbing tonurnfrag tank if u can manage it functionally and aesthetically. I ran double setup for couple years and it was hello to test, dose, chill.and heat and filter two systems so ended up combining all which doubled my water volume.
