Hello All,

I have lurked on here for years and have been reefer on and off for a number of years.

However, I have a question as I am doing something I have not done before. A friend is closing down a frag tank and is giving me a number of frags about, 20 -25 sps and zoa. I am looking to use my empty Nuvo 16 to create a frag tank to house them.

My question is about cycling it. I don't have time to go through a full cycle of the tank as he needs to move the frags ASAP. Can I set up the tank with new salt water and a couple pieces of fully cure live rock and some biological additives to help reduce or eliminate a cycle?

Any constructive advice would be helpful as I don't want to lose any frags.

Thank you,

Rob

If you can transport live rock from that tank (As well as some water from it five or 10 gallons) you should be fine. Adding bacteria via bottle wouldn't hurt either. Try to get some of the old water, as it will be less of a shock to the coral if you can mix in new with it. (Think of it as a water change )
