Frag Tank Thoughts

I would like to run a small frag tank with a sump. I like the idea of having extra space for filtration. I saw these on BRS and generally like. My only concern is there is no emergency overflow. Thoughts? Any different options?

The overflow on my 40g is like that. I have a wye valve on the return plumbing and keep the return piece slightly above water level to safeguard against leaks. It’s worked for me. Nice little tank!
