Hey everyone. My skimmer isn't collecting any waste. 40 breeder with coral, 2 clown fish, 4 crabs and 1 chromis. pump is working. Water was checked and is good. Running t5s for 7 hrs. Not sure what else to mention..... any help would be great. Thnx

What's the issue with u having clean water? Are your corals not doing well

Some look great, some so so. It's just that I have that skimmer running and it doesn't collect anything. I've adjusted it over and over but nothing. Ideas?

Are you feeding. If there isn't a lot of food in the tank them there will not be a lot of waste to pull out.

What are you phos and nit levels, and what corals are you keeping. Sps either need to have super clean tanks and you have to feed them aminos ext. or u can have SLIGHTLY dirty water as in .08 or less phos and notes under 10ppm...

If its a new skimmer it might be just breaking in, if not then your water might just be pretty clean which is great! My frag tank is the same, there are days when the skimmate is nasty and green, then there are days where i wont have skimmate for a week, so I just turn off the skimmer until the next time I feed. I know some reefers, who dont have a huge bioload, only turn their skimmers on a couple days a week because they dont have much waste to pull.
Just my .02
