I set up my frag tank a few weeks ago. I used RO/DI water and Red Sea salt. I am running a Remora HOB skimmer, but no other filtration. Params are all in check: Phosphates - 0.5, Nitrates - 0, Calc - 440, Alk - 11-12

Any suggestions on why I would have cloudy water? What to check for?

Bio load is minimal. I have mostly zoa frags, a few acans, and a few SPS. I have fed only since being setup (Coral Frenzy). I don't run carbon, though I haven't ever run it on my DT either, and everything is fine there.

this would seem to be the same problem we have when ever we go to frag swaps. The tank water gets cloudy slowly over the day. I am trying for our next swap not to have this issue and have crystal clear water. My guess is going to be something bacterial is blooming from the change? I am going to try either a bacteria booster or something like marine bio clear. HOpe this helps and gets others to chime in.

Is this a stand alone system or is it hooked up to your DT? Is there liverock in there or anything else that would have given your frag system a chance to properly develop the appropriate bacterial levels?

Im am going to say something bacterial is going on than.

Never had an issue with this before. Could it be harnful to the coral? Is there a solution?

Thanks again guys.

bacterial bloom will effect sps more than zoa and lps. the cloudyness should go away within 3 days. water change and good skimmer will be a plus to do.

maybe a picture of the cloudy water will help us?
