Ahoy fellow reefers I was wondering how would you go about cycling a frag tank. I don't plan on having any sand or rock in it or having a sump being plumbed. I'm hoping to use a jbj 20 frag tank. Would I just dump some biospira and test it for a month or...???

Marine pure spheres are top notch and with that limited of filtration id say getting serious bang for your buck is important. Is it possible to put something for filtration underneath the fragrack the 20g jbj tanks come with as well? If the marinepure spheres are having flow pumped through them (aerobic) then maybe put some additional marinepure under the rack where itll be without heavy flow for some anaerobic bacteria to do their thing

from my current experience, I would add a piece of live rock or something from your current tank to get the cycle going and water from your DT. Wait do you currently have a main tank? if not it can up to 45 days to cycle the tank without live rock. i added Dr. tim's and stability and on day 30 and still very high nitrites. I added some live rock yesterday to my qt tank to speed things up.

Mix your salt water and put it in the tank and then add a good bacteria cycle start product or squeezings from a good tank filter and put purigen and chemipure blue in filter chamber with filter floss and things will go fast
