frag tank

i decided to start a frag tank. i found a really nice tank and stand.....48" x 21" x 8"tall. it is a custom acrylic tank that is drilled. im going to have a 20 long for a sump. i also have an 8 bulb t5 fixture that is going to go overtop of it. ill get pics as soon as i get the tank!

Sounds like a nice size. I have 48"x24"x12" Frag tank and works really well for me.

sweet! I have a tiny 24X18X8 and am upgrading to a 36X18X12 very soon. I just need to build my stand! I am ready to see some pictures.

OK as promised here are the pics...let me know what you think. i will be doing this as a build thread so if the mods can move it to the proper thread it would be appreciated.:wink:

also i included a pic of the light that will be used!

the stand is 36.5" tall....so it gives it just the right height, and it has a 20 long sump. the tank is 35 gallons

ok could not stop, quick clean....here it is with the black eggcrate and the power heads....the #4 might be too much:neutral:

also the dj swtch power strip im going to use.....prob going to cut a hole in the side of the stand and mount it there.....ideas...thoughts on that?

The higher T5s go, the more worthless they become.

Basically what I'm saying is, with less bulbs and proper placement, you can achieve the same results for cheaper..(bulbs/power)

well this is the fixture i have to work with right now...so it will have to do. i want to hang the light so i figure @ ~~14"-15" of the top of the tank the 8 bulb light will be just fine....right?

I would consider that pretty intense. I have a 6x54w 14 inches on top of a 20" tall tank, and I still burn stuff out... I'm assuming you have a 8x54w system.
