Frag to colony. Growth Pics.

This is the parent fresh from the LFS in top center.

Here is the fresh cut frag bottom center. (There are other frags of it in the pic but they went to diff homes, this little ugly duck stayed home.)

Same day through glass.

After about 2 months.

Same day through glass.

Another 6-8 weeks or so. Top Right.

Another 6 weeks passes and a more recent pic. Far left.

My first chalice frag ever bought of internet. I wasn't impressed. The one on the right.

In fact it sat in a hidden spot on my frag rack until one day I noticed this and my chalice obcession was born.

Lost its color during move and tank change.

Colored back up and is growing well. Far Left.

That is great growth what are you feeding and what lighting? All chalices on the sand bed or the frag racks hiugher up?

Thanks. Sorry been busy with the holiday. I got my first WM of ebay in Jan 07 I think. I have the chalices lower in the tank. The clam in the pics was about 10 inches. I mainly feed them Hikari Bio-Pure Mysis. They are perfectly sized for chalices and fit in the feeding tube easy. I usually feed them 2 times a week. I still think I have a few more series I can fit together.

What's your lighting set up and are you using a 2 part Calc and Alk? Great growth on those Chalices!!!! Tell us your secrets :wink:

I am running 2 250 watt DE MH 20K with Icecap Ballasts and Reflectors and 2 110 watt Actinic VHO over a 120 gal display. I am old school. I dose my tank with Mrs. Wages with a Kent Marine 5 gal Aquadose. I use it for top off at night, about 3.5 gallons per day. I also dose Kent Tech M. I add Seachem Mag to my Reef Crystals Salt for water changes too. I have been useing Purple Up for the last year in the new display to get the coraline to take off on the foam wall. And that is it. No calcium reactor no expensive Kalk just plain old pickling lime.
The frag tank is just piggy backed off the display. a 40B with a 36" X 6 buld Tec light.
They seem to grow the same under both lights though the T-5 setup on the 40 is def brighter than the 120.
