Fragged (lemondrop?) Anemone not healing

I purchased an anemone from a LFS recently that was fragged about a month ago. Only 1 survived, which resided in the LFS tank for a month before I purchased it.

So basically, this anemone has had at least 5 weeks and has still not healed, there is a gash on the base that seems to be unable to heal, this area, generates a fuzzy looking material (looking like decomposing shrimp). The anemone is not eating and hasn't eaten for at least a month. Also, there is an area where the cut was made with little nubs, i am not sure if the tentacles are shrinking or growing.

The Image is blue is in my tank day 1, and image in white is of the anemone a week after. What do you guys think I should do to save this guy? All of my other anemones are doubling in size every month, all of the parameters are perfect. I think this guy was too far gone from the LFS but I hope that is not the case.

BTAs are incredibly resilient. I wouldn't worry based on the second photo. If it was not going to survive the cut, it would look much worse imo. I wouldn't try feeding until it is 100% healed; light will sustain it until then.

Hmmm I didn't think you were supposed to "Frag" Nems I thought you were supposed to just let them split on their own. Good Luck hope it works out!

If the species naturally splits via bilateral fission, they can be "fragged". BTAs and Mags are the only species of host nem that naturally split and the only species one should attempt to "frag"(I don't recommend it but that's another story). BTAs handle being cut much better than Mags.

You can cut BTAs, some heal much faster than others. It is risky, especially on a particular cultivate that has not been fragged before. For example Sherman's rose can but cut into 4 and all are closed in the matter of hours. Others that I have cut have taken a week.

It's been at least 5 weeks and have not healed. 1 week in my tank, 4 at the LFS, should I be concerned and do a cipro or just leave it be? It hasn't looked good the past couple days.

Do you have any more pictures? Hope it makes it, otherwise you will have a Big Big Mess! Does your water Stink? I had a NEM die, and it stunk so bad!
